WES aims to continue rating improvements

There are 190 students in Weir Elementary, a ‘C’ rated school; according to Principal Robbie Denson that rating has improved over the past two years and improved a letter grade last year, and they continue to aim higher. She added that each year the WES students have grown in both reading and mathematical computation.

Pafford reports ‘All Going Well’ to Supervisors

During their regularly scheduled meeting, on Monday, March 4, the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors received an update from Pafford Medical on the status of EMS service since taking over in January. Pafford officials stated that everything was going well, and some elected officials concurred, stating that they had heard only good reports.

Ackerman Aldermen deal with short agenda

The Board:

 Voted 5-0 to grant an exception to Vankaitha Robinson to place a mobile home on Bruce Drive.

 Voted 5-0 to approve personnel policy updates.

Choctaw County election filings complete

The filing deadline for the 2019 elections was Friday, March 1 at 5 p.m.

The primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 6, with runoff elections on Tuesday, August 27 and the general election on Tuesday, November 5.
