Behind the 14 points from current National Player of the Week Jariyah Covington, the East Central Community College Lady Warriors earned a 64-57 win over the Hinds Lady Bulldogs in MACJC South Division basketball action Thursday, Jan. 23, at Brackeen-Wood Gym on the ECCC campus in Decatur.
Just a day after being named the MACJC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, East Central Community College sophomore guard Jariyah Covington added to her honors by being selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Division I Player of the Week.

The Mississippi College women's basketball team dropped an 84-62 decision at the University of Montevallo on Monday, Nov. 25. MC moved to 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in Gulf South Conference action. UM improved to 5-1 and 2-0 in the league. Great game by Lillian Sisson of Louisville.
As the MHSAA basketball season enters its stretch run, there are only four teams that remain undefeated, two boys team and two girls team.
There were learning experiences that came about for the Louisville boys and girls teams this week on the basketball court as each won two ball games and lost one in tough fashion.
The Nanih Waiya and Noxapater boys and girls basketball teams entered their contests against each other on Friday night with the same two things on their collective minds — pick up their first region win of the season and knock off their arch-rivals.
