In a regular meeting of the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors, held on Monday, July 19, the Board voted unanimously to opt out of the Enterprise, which is an economic development partnership between Choctaw and Webster Counties. Each county funded the Enterprise in the amount of $50K per year.
In a written statement the Board said, “While the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors is grateful for all of the contributions made to Choctaw County through the hard work of the Enterprise and the members of the Enterprise board, we are looking at other strategies in order to continue to move Choctaw County forward through economic development. This board is fully invested in the continued support of economic development in Choctaw County and for the future of this county.”
In dealing with the roof of the POLO building, a motion was made by District 3 Supervisor, Chris McIntire, to approve pay order No.1 on the project, for Dixie Roofing in the amount of $147.9K, and Calvert Spradling Engineering in the amount of $16.7K with the County part of total being $48.7K. The Board unanimously supported the motion.
A motion was made by District 4 Supervisor, John Shumaker, to approve change order No.1 on the POLO roof project in the amount of $21.6K and authorize the President to sign needed paperwork to complete same. The Board voted unanimously in support.
In other action, the Board:
•Voted 5-0 to approve a resolution on Emergency Road and Bridge Funds to the State as presented by the County Engineer.
•Voted 5-0 to grant an easement request of AT&T on Harris Road.
•Voted 5-0 to approve and authorize the President to sign needed paperwork on the Reform-Sturgis Road Project to the Department of Finance in the amount of $225K.
•Voted 5-0 to approve a Resolution dealing with the Chester Tomnolen Road Project to the Department of Finance in the amount of $300K total, with these funds being split between Choctaw and Webster County and authorize the President to sign all needed paperwork to complete same.
•Voted 5-0 to order the Purchase Clerk to issue a Purchase Order in the amount of
$35K for roadside maintenance in Beat 5 and authorize the Purchase Clerk to award the lowest quote received for same.
•Voted 5-0 to recognize the notice from the Department of Revenue dealing with the tax rolls submitted by the Assessor.
•Voted 5-0 to recognize the certificate of training for Justice Court Judge Weeks as presented.
•Voted 5-0 to grant the Town of French Camp Fire Department $11K to help offset their purchase of Jaws of Life for the Safety of the public to be paid from fund 106.
•Voted 5-0 to recognize the receipt of a check from Eric Chambers in the amount of $714.53 for his Cobra Insurance, and recognize it was received after his insurance time had expired and order the Clerk to refund same to Chambers.
•Voted 5-0 to approve the Solid Waste Deletions, Adjustments, and Assessments as presented by the Solid Waste Clerk.
•Voted 5-0 to approve the claims docket dated July 19, 2021, in the amount of $130K.
