Wet weather has already taken its toll on the spring sports seasons in Winston County and they haven't even officially begun.
There was a full slate of games scheduled for baseball and fast-pitch softball this week, but it is likely none of it will be played, or at least will have to be rescheduled.
The Winston County Slow-Pitch Softball Classic was scheduled for Louisville on Thursday with Nanih Waiya, Noxapater and Louisville playing a one-day round-robin.
The Lady Tigers of Noxapater were then to host West Point this coming Tuesday and Starkville on Feb. 28. Nanih Waiya is slated to visit Eupora on Monday and Choctaw County on Feb. 28 before visiting Noxapater on March 4.
The Lady Wildcats were supposed to play at French Camp on Tuesday before playing in the round-robin on Thursday. LHS is then scheduled to host Eupora on Feb. 26, French Camp Feb. 28 and Choctaw County March 1.
BASEBALL
Louisville was supposed to open its regular season by playing Noxapater and Nanih Waiya at Noxapater on Tuesday, then facing Caledonia on Saturday. The Wildcats were set to visit Choctaw County on Feb. 26 and Neshoba Central on March 1, before hosting Noxapater on March 2.
In addition to Tuesday's scheduled games, Noxapater was set to host Philadelphia on Thursday and Puckett this coming Tuesday, as well as Lake on March 1 and visit Louisville on March 2.
The Warriors of Nanih Waiya had Louisville on Tuesday and Philadelphia at Noxapater on Thursday this week, before hosting Union this coming Monday and visiting Winona on Feb. 26. NW then hosts Choctaw Central on March 1 and travels to East Webster on March 2 to face both Choctaw County and East Webster.
This week's games for Winston Academy had them visiting Kemper Academy on Tuesday and hosting Newton County Academy on Thursday. The Pats were then set to visit Leake Central on Saturday, before traveling to Newton Count Academy on Feb. 28 and hosting French Camp on March 2.
Grace Christian is set to open its 2019 season at home on Feb. 28 against New Summit.
