Former Noxapater High School standout R.J. Pierce picked up his first win of the season for Holmes Community College as he pitched 2.1 strong innings for the Bulldogs in an 8-7 win over Nunez Community College on Sunday.
Pierce, now 1-0 on the year, allowed just one hit in the win, while striking out four and issuing just one walk. The sophomore right-hander has struck out five and yet to allowed an earned run in 4.1 innings pitched this season in three appearances.
The Holmes Community College Bulldogs stretched their baseball winning streak to seven games with a trio of doubleheader sweeps last week.
Holmes beat Williams Baptist College 14-4 and 10-1 on March 4, rolled past Blue Mountain College 5-1 and 11-3 on March 6, and took a pair of thrillers over Nunez Community College 3-2 and 8-7 on Sunday.
The Bulldogs, now 15-1 on the season, were set to host East Central Community College in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m., before visiting Jones College for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Tuesday.
