If Nanih Waiya volleyball coach Dayna Hunter could bottle whatever got ahold of her Lady Warriors in the second set of their match against Noxapater last week, she certainly would.
“My girls showed up to play,” Hunter said of her team’s 28-26, 25-15, 25-17 win over the visiting Lady Tigers. “Set two was our big set. That’s when we really came out and played. Our first passes were the big things. In that second set we only had three bad first passes. We were able to set some things up and it showed.”
Chloe Weeks had five service points and seven assists in the three-set win, while Dallyn Nance had a big service game, recording six aces and 13 points. “She got in a groove with her jump serve and it was lights out.”
Jalia Cotton had six assists and 12 service points, including a trio of aces. I’onnya Coleman recorded four kills.
The NW junior varsity team won 25-23, 28-6 over Noxapater.
This week is a big one for the Lady Tigers as they were to host Hunter’s Alma Mater, Choctaw County High School, on Tuesday and then entertain Aberdeen on Thursday.
“They have had a program for a long, long time,” Hunter said of Choctaw County “I played for them when it was still Ackerman.”
