It was a good week for the Noxapater volleyball team, as the Lady Tigers earned district wins over Kemper County and West Lowndes. Head coach Pam Mills hopes that success carries over to this week as her girls were set to face a pair of tough foes in Amory on Tuesday and Grace Christian on Thursday.
“I was very proud of my girls,” Mills said of her team’s effort last week. “They just worked hard.
“When you practice things over and over and you use those things in games and they are successful, your confidence goes up,” she said. “You look better and you play better.’
The Lady Tigers had little trouble with Kemper County last Tuesday, winning 25-5, 25-20, 25-19. Lindsey Mills had three points and three spikes for the winners, while Addy Webb had three points, including two aces. Jenna Wilkes had three points and a spike, while Nona Wilkes recored two points and an ace. Mary Grace Mills had a point and an ace, while Madison Riggs had a dig.
Although West Lowndes has had a volleyball program for several years, Noxapater was the better team last week taking a 25-18, 25-22, 25-19 win.
Lindsey Mills had two points, two spikes, an ace, and a save for Noxapater in the WL match, while Nona Wilkes had two points, a spike, two aces and four digs. Jenna Wilkes posted two spikes, a point, and a dig, with Riggs having two spikes.
