During a called meeting held on Tuesday morning, July 16, the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve the following change orders to county road projects:
• In District 3, Mt. Salem Rd. at a cost of $49.9K.
• In District 5, Ford Rd. at a cost of $32.3K.
MSU Extension Agent, Juli Hughes addressed the Board about the possibility of the County hiring an Agricultural/Natural Resource Agent, pointing out that the county had been without such an agent for the past 14 months, and the possibility of MSU Extension Services filling the position is unlikely. Hughes added that salary and fringe benefits would total $60K - $70K/year. The Board agreed to consider the request in upcoming budget discussions.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Supervisors is Monday, August 5, at 9 a.m.
In a previous meeting, the Choctaw Justice Court filed its annual unpaid and uncollected fines report. A full article on the report will be in the August 7 edition.
