In their regularly scheduled meeting, on Tuesday, July 9, the Ackerman Board of Aldermen continued discussions on proposed annexation of property. It was pointed out that it would cost the Town between $5K-$7K to continue forward with Slaughter & Associates, for Phase 2 of the process.
Alderman Carl Phelps stated that he would like to see the annexation boundaries set at the welcome signs on each side of town. The Board agreed to a work session on Tuesday, July 23 at 5:30 p.m.
In other action, the Board:
• Voted 4-0 to adopt a franchise agreement ordinance with Franklin Telephone Co. Phelps recused himself.
• Voted 5-0 to accept Charles Peay’s resignation.
• Voted 5-0 to remove the Police Dept.’s Ford Explorer as the unmarked vehicle, and all the 2019 Dodge Ram as an unmarked vehicle.
• Voted 5-0 to approve an ad for the Choctaw County football program.
• Voted 5-0 to accept the 2017-2018 Audit Report and Finding from WWS.
• Voted 5-0 to approve travel for Joey Green to Water Training-Short Course, in Tupelo, MS, on October 7-11, 2019.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Ackerman Board of Aldermen is Tuesday, August 6, at 5:30 p.m.
