The return to school is swiftly approaching, and to help things along there will be a Back-to-School Jamboree at Glasgow Park, on Saturday, July 27; registration begins at 9 a.m.
The Jamboree is open for toddlers up through high school age, with school-aged children receiving a free backpack.
There is no charge for the Jamboree which will feature face-painting, a giant water slide, and other attractions, with a free lunch being served from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and festivities continuing until two in the afternoon.
The Jamboree is co-sponsored by the Choctaw County High School Alumni Association and the Southern Foundation located in Starkville.
Mattie McDaniel, Secretary of the Alumni Association, stated that they have been hosting the Jamboree for more than ten years with this being the first co-hosted by the Southern Foundation of Starkville.
McDaniel added that when the Alumni Association was first formed one of their goals was to give back to the community in which they grew up, and the Jamboree is a way of giving back and recognizing the importance of education in the community.
