This year, Ackerman Mayor Tim Cutts was privileged to be part of the Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas Regional White House Conference, traveling to Washington, D.C. on June 23 and returning home on June 28.
The trip was coordinated through the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. Cutts stated, “For the most part they are trying to communicate how to better work with the Executive Branch.” The trip included meetings with Secretary of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue and Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, and a number of others.
While in D.C. Cutts had the opportunity to meet with members of the Mississippi delegation, including Rep. Trent Kelly, Senator Roger Wicker and Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, and speak with them concerning the ongoing sidewalk project on Main St. in Ackerman.
Cutts added that his presentation was very well received.
Cutts also had the opportunity to see some of the monuments and memorials while in the Capitol, before returning home.
