As the name suggests, the Golden Triangle Planning and Development District (GTPDD) certainly aids communities in planning and development. However, there are a number of services offered that most people are not aware of.
For instance, GTPDD is the Area Agency on Aging. The primary goal of the Area Agency on Aging is to provide services that assist older persons in leading independent, meaningful and dignified lives in their own homes and communities as long as possible. These services include:
• Being the focal point for leadership in the field of aging for the area.
• Engaging in the continuous process of planning in order to increase and improve services.
• Pooling resources from both public and private sectors to strengthen existing programs.
• Monitoring and assess existing programs.
The GTPDD is also involved in the area of human services which includes Medicaid waivers, personal care services and senior enrichment centers.
The GTPDD continues to develop programs that enable elderly, disabled and chronically ill individuals to remain in their homes as long as possible. This goal inspired the GTPDD to create the new Golden Triangle PDD Pharmacy. The pharmacy team will coordinate all maintenance medicines (taken every day) and vitamin supplements to be filled and delivered on a 28-day schedule after consulting with the patient’s health care providers.
Doctors/physicians will send prescriptions directly to the pharmacy; prescriptions will be prepackaged and labeled (with contents by date and time to take). Then the prescriptions will be delivered.
The GTPDD serves Choctaw, Clay, Lowndes, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Webster and Winston Counties. For information on these and other services, contact GTPDD at: 662-324-7860.
