The Choctaw Chamber of Commerce held their annual meeting on Thursday, March 21, at the Choctaw County Community Center.
The meeting began with the call to order by Chamber Vice-President, Juliette Ashford, followed by prayer from Choctaw Co. Economic Development District Board President, Ron Bennett.
Cheryl McIntire introduced nominees Dianne Chancellor, Melinda Newlin and Angela Paine. Ashford asked for a motion to accept the nominees which was given, along with a second.
Chamber of Commerce Communications Coordinator, Amanda McBride highlighted events sponsored by the Chamber in 2018, which included: First Responders Dinner, First Impressions Grant, Institute of Organizational Management, State of Our Community Expo, Industry Appreciation Luncheon, Jack-O-Lantern Jam, and the Christmas Parade and activities.
McBride also highlighted seven ribbon cuttings: Choctaw Nursing Home Expansion, Choctaw County Library, Buttons & Bows Daycare, Sentiment & Sundries, Forks, Knives & Spoons, Merritt Railcar Services and Kutz & Kurls.
Chamber Director, Donna McKay, recognized the District Board Members who were present, and thanked the past Board of Directors for a job well done: Juliette Ashford, Melinda Newlin, Amy Burdine, Cheryl McIntire, Trey Bowman, and Aldridge Taylor.
McKay presented a certificate/Amazon Gift Card to Board President Lee James who resigned in January to take an appointment as a Trustee on the CCEDD). James had served since Dec. 2016 and was Board President for 2 years.
She presented a certificate/Amazon Gift Card to Vice President Juliette Ashford who has served since May 2015 and served as Secretary 1 year and Vice-President 2 years.
McKay thanked all Committee Members and Volunteers for their service and presented Angela Paine as Volunteer of the Year.
Juliette Ashford was presented as the Volunteer Chamber Board Director of the Year.
The meeting adjourned with a Board Meeting to be held immediately afterward.
