Two house fires in county

Bywy Volunteer Fire Department had a busy beginning to 2022, responding to two house fires within the first three days of the year.

Both fires were on Hebron Road, and unfortunately both were total losses, but according to Bywy Volunteer Fire Department Chief, John Ballard, no one was injured in either fire.

Escapee apprehended in Arkansas

This past Sunday, agents with the US Marshal Task Force and MDOC SRT, apprehended Andrew Emerick, a state inmate who was being housed at the Choctaw County Jail, and who escaped on Wednesday, December 29.

Emerick was taken into custody in West Memphis, AR.

Ackerman Aldermen approve town redistricting
