The Noxapater Lady Tigers knocked off a pair of Class 6A schools last week in softball action.
The Lady Tigers beat Starkville 16-9 on Thursday and then beat Columbus on Friday. Their doubleheader with Leake County on Monday was rained out.
Noxapater is scheduled to play a pair of games in the Nanih Waiya Tournament on Monday in their only scheduled action this week. Noxapater will take on Leake Central at 11 a.m. and then take on rival Nanih Waiya at 1 p.m.
Noxapater 10, Columbus 5
The Lady Tigers doubled up the Class 6A Lady Falcons on Friday and took a five-run.
Noxapater scored one in the first and four in the second to lead 5-0. The Lady Tigers continue to add to the lead, scoring singled runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings while scoring two in the sixth. Columbus scored one in the third and fifth and finished with three in the seventh.
Columbus outhit Noxapater 12-5 in the contest but the Lady Tigers drew nine walks and had five hit batters. Caroline Swindle was 2-for-4 and drove in two runs while Kaitlyn Sanborn singled and drove in two runs. Laney Boatner tripled and scored three runs while Jodie Wilkes walked three times and scored twice. Makayla Bartholomew walked twice and scored twice while Kenzie Harrell also walked twice.
Marley Joiner pitched six innings and gave up two runs as she scattered 10 hits while striking out six. Wilkes pitched the last inning and gave up three runs on two hits while striking out two.
Noxapater 16, Starkville 9
The Lady Tigers finished with a pair of six-run innings to take a seven-run win over the Class 6A Lady Yellowjackets on Thursday.
Noxapater led 3-1 after two innings before Starkville scored two in the third and fifth to take a 5-4 lead. Noxapater then scored six in the sixth and seventh innings to take the win.
Noxapater had 10 hits and drew 10 walks. Kyleigh Daugherty was 3-for-5 with three RBIs while Kelli Thomas was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Kaitlyn Sanborn doubled and drove in two runs while Laney Boatner singled, walked twice and drove in two runs. Marley Joiner walked three times and scored two runs while Jodie Wilkes and Caroline Swindle each walked twice and scored three runs.
Joiner pitched seven innings and gave up nine runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out 12.
Noxapater Tigers grab four wins
The Noxapater Tigers scored 64 runs in four games last week, grabbing four wins in the process.
The Tigers opened the week with a walk-off 17-16 win over West Lowndes and then hammered the Panthers 15-2 on Thursday.
The Tigers then beat Leake County 13-3 and 19-0 on Friday in a doubleheader.
Noxapater 17, West Lowndes 16
The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh as they took the win on a passed ball to beat the Panthers on Monday.
West led 2-1 after three innings before Noxapater scored five in the fourth, seven in the fifth and two in the sixth and seventh.
Noxapater outhit West Lowndes 14-12 and drew 10 walks. Kaden Carter was 4-for-4 with three runs scored while Caleb Ellingburg was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. James Kugle was 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored. Ethan Easley was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs while Brady Ellinson scored two runs and had two RBIs. Luke Welborn singled and scored two runs and had three RBIs.
Braxton Daughtery started and pitched four innings and gave up six runs on six hits and one walk while striking out seven. Ellinson pitched two innings and gave up four runs on two hits and three walks while striking out three. Cooper McMullen pitched the last inning for the Tigers and picked up the win.
Noxapater 15, West Lowndes 2
The Tigers scored eight runs in the sixth to take run-rule win over the Panthers on Thursday.
Noxapater scored three in the first, two in the third and fourth while finishing with eight in the sixth.
Noxapater had seven hits and drew nine walks. Ethan Jones was 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Kaden Carter was 2-for-4. Cooper McMullen walked three times and scored twice while James Kugle walked twice and scored twice. Ethan Easley scored three runs while TJ Jones scored two runs. Luke Welborn also drove in two runs.
Kugle started on the mound and pitched six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out 15.
Noxapater 13, Leake County 3
The Tigers scored in five of the six innings and pulled away to take a run-run win over the Gators on Friday in the first game of a doubleheader.
Leake scored two in the bottom of the first before the Tigers answered with two in the first and second. Leading just 4-3 after three, Noxapater scored four in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Noxapater had 10 hits and drew six walks. James Kugle was 2-for-3 with a double, home run, three runs scored and two RBIs. Ethan Easley was 3-for-4 with two doubles while Braxton Daughtery was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Luke Welborn was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three runs scored. Brady Ellinson walked three times and scored all three times while Caleb Ellingburg also scored two runs.
Ethan Jones started on the mound and gave up three unearned runs on three hits while striking out four in four innings pitched. Ellinson pitched the last two innings and walked two while striking out four.
Noxapater 19, Leake County 0
The Tigers only gave up one hits as they took a three-inning, run-rule victory.
Noxapater scored one in the first, eight in the second and 10 in the third.
Noxapater had nine hits and drew 13 walks. Braxton Daughtery was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs while James Kugle was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Ethan Easley was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and three RBIs. Kade Carter tripled, walked twice and scored three runs while TJ Jones and Cooper McMullen walked twice and scored twice.
Braxton Daughtery started on the mound and pitched two innings and gave up one hit and one walk.
