In an emergency meeting Monday, March 23, the Ackerman Board of Aldermen unanimously passed a resolution declaring a Civil Emergency.
The order is in keeping with guidelines set forth by the Federal and State governments, limiting gatherings to no more than 10 people. The order also requires that restaurants serve only take out orders, and places limits on churches, as well. There shall be no dining or available sitting areas within those restaurants.
The resolution stands in effect for 30 days and will be revisited at that time.
The Board also unanimously passed an order stating that Town employee could be sent home and paid at their regular rate, for non-disciplinary reasons.
The Ackerman Town Hall remains closed to the public. Any issues can be addressed by phone. These measures are being taken for the mutual safety and well-being of the public and town employees as the nation deals with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Weir
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and under the recommendation of Governor Tate Reeves the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for the Town of Weir has voted to implement a curfew for the Town of Weir between the hours of 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM also all gatherings MUST be limited to no more than 10 people.
Any Violation could be subjected to $500.00 fine or 6 months in jail.
