At their regularly scheduled meeting, on Tuesday, April 9, the Weir Board of Aldermen voted 4-0 to hire two part-time police officers: Mike Pruitt and Roger McKinley. Alderman Corey Simpson was not present at the meeting.
Anthony McGee of the Choctaw County School District spoke to the Board concerning a water valve at Weir Elementary School that had been giving problems for almost a year. It was stated that the work needed to be delayed until the end of school, due to the work that would need to be done. The work should begin shortly after the end of school.
Frances Potts, who was not present, asked for permission to burn a mobile home due to a mold problem, but was denied the request as the Dept. of Environmental Quality prohibits it.
It was reported that the front of the library needs repairs, and it was decided that someone would be contacted to determine the scope of work.
