In a regularly scheduled meeting held on Monday, August 5, the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors opened bids for box bridge and gravel roadway approaches on Pisgah Road.
County Engineer Marty Crowder’s estimate for the .156-mile project was $561K. A&B Construction of Thaxton, MS bid $588K on the project; Ausbern Construction Company bid $570.7K; Hooker Construction bid $568.6K; Ste-Bil Grading, Inc bid $643.8K; and Townes Construction Company bid $482K. Crowder suggested that the Board take the bids under advisement, and the Board voted unanimously to do so.
After a lengthy discussion the Board voted 3-2 to approve a simplified version of a lease on the Hardwire building to Polo Custom Products. Supervisors Eric Chambers and Greg Fondren voted against the measure.
In other action, the Board:
•Voted 5-0 to recognize the hospital budget request in the amount of $500K.
•Voted 5-0 to approve a data server maintenance agreement in the amount of $722.
•Voted 5-0 to recognize the destruction of bonds from BancorpSouth.
•Voted 5-0 to approve a contract for Tax Assessor technical support services.
•Voted 5-0 to approve July jail inspection.
•Voted 5-0 to approve travel for the Emergency Manager on November 12-14, 2019.
