The Choctaw County School District dealt with a number of routine matters during their first meeting of 2020, on Monday, January 13.
Those issues included personnel resignations, transfers and revisions of contracts.
The Board unanimously approved the retirement of David Ellington effective December 31, 2019, and approved the resignation of Betty Mann as a cafeteria worker and bus driver effective December 20, 2019 and declared all of those positions vacant.
Concerning new employees, the Board unanimously:
• Approved the recommendation of Marly Perkins as a Social Studies/Dual Enrollment Teacher for the second semester of the 2019-2020 school year.
• Approved the recommendation of Regina Jones as an ELA Tutor for 5th/6th grade at Weir Elementary.
• Approve the recommendation of Hal Aurell as a full time Bus Driver for the remainder of the 2019-2020.
• Approve the recommendation of Hal Aurell as a bus driver of the therapy route.
• Approve the recommendation of James Murphy as a substitute bus driver for the therapy route.
• Approve the Barbara Worrell as a long-term substitute for Miranda Worrell.
• Approve Maggie Wher as a long-term sub beginning January 13, 2020.
• Approve the recommendation of Haley Hunt as a substitute pending clear fingerprints, background check, and paperwork.
In other action, the Board unanimously approved a lengthy consent agenda and financial issues.
