A representative of a company named Boa Vida Healthcare spoke to the Board of Supervisors at their meeting on Tuesday, January 21 concerning the possible purchase or lease of the Choctaw Regional Medical Center, to include the Choctaw Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and all clinics.
According to the Boa Vida Healthcare website they focus on Hospitals and communities, urban and rural, that have unique challenges with payor mix and demographics. BVH mobilizes all stake holders-employees, payors, and community leaders to develop a viable model for providing quality, compassionate care in a long-term sustainable manner and have had good results. BVH representative stated to the supervisors that the goal is to retain all current employees.
Supervisor Chris McIntire pointed out that there are numerous legalities that must be considered before any deal could be made, and the Board suggested that Boa Vida Healthcare officials meet with the hospital board for further discussions. No further action was taken on the matter.
In other action, the Board:
• Voted 5-0 to approve a new one-year contract with Pafford EMS to include a $15K/month subsidy.
• Voted 5-0 to approve the Emergency Management Performance Grant, which is done on an annual basis.
• Voted 5-0 to allow E Fire to perform a flow test on the sprinkler system at the old Hardwire building which will be occupied by Polo Custom Products.
• Voted 5-0 to obtain a debit card which will be used only for travel purposes of county officials and employees.
• Voted 5-0 to approve the hiring of Dillion Cates as a part-time deputy sheriff.
The next scheduled meeting of the Board of Supervisors is on Monday, February 3 at 9 a.m.
