The Noxapater baseball team took a 4-4 mark into a very busy Spring break week. The Tigers were set to take on Pelahatchie on Monday, host McAdams Tuesday, visit McAdams Thursday and then entertain Philadelphia on Friday at 6 p.m.
Last week Noxapater dropped a 19-5 decision to Lake on Monday then dropped a 5-4 road decision to West Lowndes on Tuesday.
After Noxapater took an early 3-0 lead in the top fo the first inning at Lake, the homestanding Hornets turned on the firepower, scoring eight times in the first and seven in the second to take control of the game. Lake had 11 hits in the game, while Noxapater committed seven errors.
Taylor Buchanan banged out a pair of singles and scored a run to lead Noxapater’s four-hit attack against Lake, while Lane Bailey smashed a double, drove in three ones and scored one and James Kugle singled and knocked in a run. Landon Bailey scored two runs for the Tigers and Luke Welborn one, while Chevy Welborn had an RBI.
Luke Welborn and Buchanan each pitched for Noxapater int he contest.
Noxapater lost a tough one against West Lowndes. The Tigers railed 4-1 after five innings of play before three in the top of the sixth to tie the game, only to have West Lowndes scored the winning run in the bottom of the inning.
Buchanan and Bailey each singled for the Tigers in the contest, while Chevy Welborn had the lone RBI. Buchanan walked twice and scored twice, while Landon Bailey and Lane Bailey each scored a run.
Chevy Welborn pitched 4.1 innings for the Tigers without giving up an earned run and allowed just three hits. Kugle struck out four in 1.2 innings of work in relief.
