Aldermen table hiring of police officer

The Eupora Board of Aldermen has tabled requests to hire a new police officer over the course of three meetings. Aldermen on May 20 considered the hiring of Dustin Capps as a fulltime police officer at a starting rate of $15.33 an hour. Meeting minutes show the board tabled the item until June 3 to allow Capps to attend that night’s meeting.

Sen. Williams gives board legislative overview

WALTHALL — State Sen. Bart Williams gave the Webster County Board of Supervisors a legislative overview earlier this month. Williams (RStarkville) addressed the board June 3. The District 15 senator did so at board’s request before members attended the Mississippi Association of Supervisors’ Annual Convention.

Eupora Police Dept. unveils Tesla patrol car

The Eupora Police Department officially unveiled its new Tesla patrol car to much fanfare Saturday afternoon, June 8. The ceremony began with Police Chief Lawrence “Q-Dell” Caradine driving the 2024 Tesla Model 3 up North Dunn to the police station with lights flashing and siren sounding.

County’s unemployment rate falls to record low: 1.7%
