Tough week on court for Nanih Waiya

It was a rough week for the Nanih Waiya basketball teams.

After being off for the Christmas break, Nanih Waiya returned with three games last week, losing al three.

The Lady Warriors lost all three games, falling 42-29 to Lake, 44-37 to Philadelphia and 52-11 to Kemper County.

Noxapater basketball teams heading into 2022

The Noxapater basketball teams returned to action last week and opened division basketball play.

Despite some close calls, neither team was able to come away with a win.

The Lady Tigers returned to action with a tight 34-29 loss to French Camp and then fell 65-50 to McAdams.

Noxapater and Nanih Waiya tangle on the court

Nanih Waiya and Noxapater tangled on the basketball courts for the second time this season.

Nanih Waiya came out on top again as the Lady Warriors took a 59-25 win while the Warriors won 67-43.

Nanih Waiya also lost a pair of games to Newton, falling 49-46 to the Lady Tigers in overtime while the Warriors lost 73-47.

Caleb Kelly ready to build up Noxapater Tigers football

Noxapater didn’t wait long to fill its vacant head football coach position.

The school announced on Wednesday that they had hired Pass Christian offensive coordinator Caleb Kelly as the school’s new head football coach.

Kelly is a Winston County native and a former assistant at Noxapater.
