It was a rough week for the Nanih Waiya basketball teams.
After being off for the Christmas break, Nanih Waiya returned with three games last week, losing al three.
The Lady Warriors lost all three games, falling 42-29 to Lake, 44-37 to Philadelphia and 52-11 to Kemper County.
The Warriors also dropped three games, falling 35-24 to Lake, 52-39 to Philadelphia and 77-39 to Kemper County
Nanih Waiya has just one game on the schedule this week as they will host Kemper County on Tuesday and will be off on Friday. The following week, Nanih Waiya will host Philadelphia on Tuesday in its only game of the week.
Lake girls 42, Nanih Waiya 29
The Lady Hornets used a steady offense to take a 13-point win over the Lady Warriors on Friday night to stay unbeaten in division play.
Lake scored 21 points in each half as they led 21-14 at the end of the first half. Lake then outscored Nanih Waiya 21-15 in the second half to take the win.
Ambria Tubby led Nanih Waiya with 12 points.
Lake boys 35, Nanih Waiya 24
The Hornets were able to overcome a first-half deficit and finish strong to take an 11-point win over the Warriors on Friday.
Nanih Waiya jumped out to a 15-7 lead in the first period while Lake outscored the Warriors 8-4 in the second to cut the lead to 19-15. Lake then outscored Nanih Waiya 8-5 in the third to cut the lead to 24-23 going to the fourth. Lake then outscored Nanih Waiya 12-0 in the fourth to take the win.
Hagan Halfacre led Nanih Waiya with 10 points while Eli Stanton had six points and Rico Moore added five points.
Philadelphia girls 44, Nanih Waiya 37
The Lady Tornados built an early lead and held on to take a seven-point win over the Lady Warriors.
Philly led 14-11 at the end of the first and outscored the Lady Warriors 15-7 in the second to lead 29-18 at the half. Nanih Waiya battled back in the second half and outscored Philadelphia 10-7 in the third and 9-8 in the fourth for the final margin.
Natalee Eaves led Nanih Waiya with nine points while Morgan Mills, Zandy Eiland and Angel Clemmons each had eight points apiece.
Philadelphia boys 52, Nanih Waiya 39
The Tornadoes built an early lead and raw away to a 13-point win over the Warriors.
Philly doubled up Nanih Waiya early and led 12-6 at the end of the first and 24-16 at the half. The Warriors took the third period 7-6 and trailed 30-23 going to the fourth. Philly then outscored Nanih Waiya 22-16 in the fourth to take the win.
Eli Stanton led Nanih Waiya with 20 points while Rico Moore had 18 points.
Kemper County girls 52, Nanih Waiya 11
The Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Warriors in every period and cruised to a 41-point win o Tuesday.
Kemper outscored Nanih Waiya 19-3 in the first and 16-3 in the second to lead 35-6 at the half. Each team scored five points in the third and Kemper finished by outscoring Nanih Waiya 12-0 in the fourth.
Zandy Eiland, Ambria Tubby and Taina Thompson each scored three points apiece for the Lady Warriors.
Kemper County boys 77, Nanih Waiya 41
The Wildcats had little trouble with the Warriors, taking a 38-point win in a division 5-2A contest.
Kemper led 15-10 at the end of the first and then outscored Nanih Waiya 24-6 and led 39-16 at the half. Kemper continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Nanih Waiya 15-12 in the third and 23-13 in the fourth.
Rico Moore led Nanih Waiya with 21 points while Hagan Halfacre had 11 points.
