Defendants arraigned in Circuit Court

The recalled Webster County Grand Jury returned indictments May 25, and arraignments were held June 1 before Circuit Judge Joseph H. Loper Jr.

These defendants entered pleas of not guilty to the felony charges listed. Loper set bond for each and appointed a public defender if indigent:

Monthly sales tax collections released

Sales tax revenue numbers that reflect May sales are in from the Mississippi Department of Revenue for local municipalities.

MDR collects 81.5 percent of the 7 percent sales tax from municipalities and distributes the remaining 18.5 percent back to the municipalities over a three-month cycle.
