Monthly sales tax collections released

Sales tax revenue numbers that reflect September sales are in from the Mississippi Department of Revenue for local municipalities.

MDR collects 81.5 percent of the 7 percent sales tax from municipalities and distributes the remaining 18.5 percent back to the municipalities over a three-month cycle.

County records 1 new virus case

Webster County recorded only one new case of COVID-19 during the past week, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health’s Monday coronavirus report.

The county’s total COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began now stands at 2,042 — up one from the previous week.
