Mayor recognizes golfer for MJGA honor

Mayor Blake McMullan has recognized a young golfer from Eupora for his accomplishments on the links.

Cameron Knight recently won the 2021 Mississippi Junior Golf Association's Boys "E" Division Player of the Year Award at the Greenwood Country Club. He has won four tournaments:

Mason named interim school superintendent

The Webster County School Board has named James Mason as interim superintendent for Webster County Schools.

On Nov. 15, Brian Jones, the district's current superintendent, announced he was resigning to accept the same job with the Amory School District. His last day after 4.5 years with WCS will be Dec. 31.

County records 14 new virus cases

Webster County recorded 14 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in the past week, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health's Monday report.

The county has now recorded a total of 2,067 cases of COVID-19 and 14 deaths since the pandemic began in March 2020.
