Webster County’s unemployment rate increased one-tenth of a percentage point during December, according to preliminary numbers from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.

Webster County’s rate stood at 3% during December, up from the modern record low of 2.9% in November but half the 6% rate in December 2020.

Unemployment rates hang below 3 percent

Unemployment rates in Choctaw County stood below 3% in December, the state Department of Labor reported recently.

The unemployment rate in Choctaw County rose ever so slightly from 2.8% to 2.9% from November to December. By comparison, the rate in December 2020 was 6.1% and the rate in December 2019 was 5.9%.
