Lights out defense leads Chargers past Houston

A strong defensive effort and the play of Kendall Coleman led Choctaw County to a key Region 4-3A victory over Houston 24-12.

Houston came into the game averaging 230 yards on the ground. The Hilltoppers were held to 68 yards, including minus four in the second half.

CCHS opens volleyball playoffs Thursday

Choctaw County will begin the MHSAA Class I volleyball playoffs with a home match against Senatobia Thursday, tipping off at 6 p.m. Class I includes 1A, 2A and 3A schools.

Coach Miranda Worrell said the team is excited. “We didn’t get this opportunity last year so it’s nice to be back in postseason play.”
