FCA baseball set to begin playoffs Thursday

French Camp will begin the MHSAA playoffs with a home game at 6 p.m. Thursday against the third-place team from Region 8-1A, probably Sacred Heart. The second game will be on the road Friday at Sacred Heart in Hattiesburg or Lumberton, with the third game, if necessary, at French Camp Saturday.

FCA Lady Panthers take 1A South State track title

CLINTON – It was business as usual for the French Camp girls track team at the South State 1A meet hosted by Clinton High School. For French Camp, business as usual meant a dominating victory.

The Lady Panthers won 10 events and rolled up 195 points to 78 for runnerup Shaw.

Choctaw County will play Houston in the semifinals of the Region 4-3A boys basketball tournament at Hatley Thursday, with tipoff scheduled for 4 p.m. The Chargers finished third in the five team region with a 2-2 record.

BRANDON — The 72nd Bernard Blackwell North/South All Star Game at Brandon High School did not go the way French Camp senior C.J. Johnson may have hoped. His team, the North, was defeated 16-10. But the afternoon ended on a high note when he received the Academic Achievement Award for the North.
