Dr. Stanly Godbold said that, as a citizen, he had many reasons not to like Jimmy Carter. Godbold was a native of Georgia, where Carter served as governor prior to his presidency. In the 1970s, the Peach State didn’t pay teachers very well, but then again, most Southeastern states didn’t, either.
