The Class of 1964 of the Louisville Colored High School celebrated its 59th Year School Reunion in Louisville, during the weekend of the Red Hills Festival. The reunion started Friday, May 26, 2023 at K & J’s Diner for a Meet and Greet.

Jewel McDonald turns 107 years old

Another year has passed, and Mr. Major Jewel McDonald reached 107 years old on November 1. He celebrated with family and friends at Lee’s Restaurant in Louisville on November 5. Mr. McDonald is an amazing man who is loved so much by his community and family. He continues to be a deacon at Mr. Olive COGIC with Pastor Kelvin Knowles.

This writer has been researching to find World War One African American soldiers who have lived in Winston County, MS and served in the ‘Colored Troops’. Thus far, four have been found but information and photos of Mr. Jesse Houston have not been found. The following information is about three of those soldiers who served in World War One.
