East Webster was set to wrap up its spring practices with a scrimmage at Booneville on Tuesday to try and avoid any potential bad weather.
“We have gotten in eight practices so far and everything has gone well,” coach Ron Price said. “We were planning on going through Thursday but that will be cut short. We have had some good practices. We got our baseball players early and that was unexpected. There are about nine of those players that can contribute and that has really helped us this spring.”
Price said one of the main objectives this spring was to replenish the offensive line, which was hurt by graduation.
“The first thing we had to do was to find an offensive line that lost three starters from last year. We have two returning starters and have to find the right five players there. We will know more about that after Tuesday.”
Price said the Wolverines have some good skill players coming back.
“We were really young last year so we have a lot of kids coming back,” Price said. “We’ve got a lot of skill players coming back and they have looked good. Steven Betts has looked good at quarterback and got some good game experience last year. We hope he continues to improve and get better in the summer through seven-on-seven. But we have been very pleased with our attitude and effort this spring.”
