The East Webster tennis team may have gotten cold on Tuesday but it was all worth it as they took a tight 4-3 win over the Mississippi School for Math and Science.
East Webster’s other scheduled match against Oak Hill on Monday was postponed due to the cold weather.
In singles, East Webster’s Kaleb Perris beat Ezra McWilliams 6-2, 6-4 to claim a point while Meri Grace Gregg fell 6-1, 6-3 in girls singles.
In mixed doubles, East Webster picked up a big point as Victor Mitchell and Melony Berryhill came back from a first-set loss to win in three sets, winning 4-6, 7-5, 10-7.
In doubles, it was the No. 2 teams for East Webster that brought home the match. On the boys side, Will Burton and Samuel Turner won 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot while Mason Brand and Cooper Reed lost 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot.
On the girls side, Sydney Ferguson and Madison Gregg won 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot to secure the match for East Webster. At No. 1 doubles, Lauren Graves and Jenna Flake lost a tight 6-4, 6-4 match.
East Webster will return to action after the Spring break as they will travel to Tupelo Christian on Monday, March 18. They will travel to Neshoba Central on Thursday, March 21 for a 4 p.m. contest.
