After playing its “worst game of the season,” the East Webster Wolverines bounced back on Friday night to beat Leflore County and finish an undefeated run through Division 2-2A play.
After a 51-45 loss to Oak Hill Academy on Monday, East Webster used a balanced scoring attack to beat Leflore County 54-46 on Friday.
The Lady Wolverines won both of its games last week as they beat Oak Hill 49-31 and Leflore County 64-21.
The Wolverines move to 16-8 on the season and finish at 5-0 in Division 2-2A play and will be the No. 1 seed in the division tournament. The Lady Wolverines are now 16-8 on the season but 3-2 in division play and could be either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed.
East Webster had three games this week as they will host Choctaw County on Monday in a makeup game. On Tuesday, East will travel to South Pontotoc and will host Houlka on Friday night for Senior night.

Leflore County 21
The Lady Wolverines had little trouble in beating Leflore County on Friday night.
East led 18-7 at the end of the first and 30-12 at the half. East outscored Leflore 25-4 in the third to take a 55-16 lead into the fourth.
“The are starting to figure out what it takes to win these important games,” East Webster coach Jon Ginn said. “We have started taking better care of the basketball. We can defend, we just have to take care of the basketball. We have made a conscious effort to do that and it’s paying off.”
Isha Patterson led East Webster with 21 points while Whitney Winter had 10 points. Lauren Graves had nine points while Mary Grace Gregg and Shan Culpepper each had six points apiece.

Leflore County 46
The Wolverines pulled away in the middle two periods to take an eight-point win over the Panthers and finish unbeaten in division play.
Leflore led 11-10 at the end of the first before East outscored the Panthers 11-7 in the second to take a 21-18 lead at the half. East extended its lead in the third as they outscored Leflore 15-11 to lead 36-29 going into the fourth. East finished off the game by outscoring Leflore 18-17 in the fourth.
“Monday was probably our worst loss of the season,” Ginn said. “But the guys came back and worked hard and executed the game play against Leflore. That was a big win to lock up the division for the second year in a row.”
Carrin Townsend led East Webster with 14 points while Reid Gatlin had 13 points and Keevon Patterson added 12 points. Nash Caldwell also had six points.

Oak Hill 31
The Lady Wolverines dominated the first-half action as they took an 18-point win over the Lady Raiders on Monday.
East Webster jumped out to a 19-9 lead in the first period and outscored Oak Hill 15-9 in the second to lead 34-18 at the half. Oak Hill outscored East 8-6 in the third to cut the lead to 40-26 going into the fourth. East finished the game off by take the fourth 9-5.
Isha Patterson led East Webster with 18 points while Mariah Bell had 10 points and Whitney Winter added eight points.

The Wolverines were unable to overcome some poor free-throw shooting as they lost to the Raiders by six points.
East held a narrow 13-12 led at the end of the first period but Oak Hill outscored the Wolverines 13-6 in the second to lead 25-19 at the half. East pulled within two in the third as they outscored Oak Hill 15-11 to make the score 36-34 heading into the fourth. Oak Hill claimed the win with a 15-11 fourth period.
“We just didn’t shoot it very well and didn’t make the free throws,” Ginn said. “We missed seven free throws in the final five minutes. Oak Hill did a good job of controlling the tempo and slowing the game down.”
Keevon Patterson led East Webster with 16 points while Carrin Townsend added 14 points.
