Twenty-five players from Louisville's 4-4A championship team have received district honors, including four with All-State recognition.
Senior linebacker Kristian Hopkins, senior defensive lineman Jy'kerious Hibbler and junior linebacker Jamarcus Eiland are 4A first team All-State. Junior defensive lineman Tyvoris Cooper is second team. In addition, Hopkins was named 4-4A overall MVP, Hibbler defensive MVP, Eiland linebacker MVP and Cooper, defensive lineman MVP.
Other honorees are senior quarterback Drea Shumaker offensive MVP, senior Michael Foster running back MVP, and senior Kaleb Mosley receiver MVP.
Hopkins led the Wildcats in tackles with 156, including 29.5 for losses and 7.5 sacks. Hibbler had 61 tackles, 21.5 for losses and 12.5 sacks. Eiland had 98 tackles with 23 for losses and eight sacks. Cooper was credited with 63 tackles, 21 for losses and nine sacks.
Those four led a defense that registered four shutouts and held four other opponents to a single touchdown.
The offense was led by Shumaker who totaled 2,566 yards and 31 touchdowns running and passing. He threw for 341 yards and four TDs in a 38-28 victory over 5A state champion West Point. Foster ran for 1,389 yards and 15 TDs and Mosley had 69 receptions for 1,006 yards and eight TDs.
Hopkins and Shumaker played for the victorious North team in the Bernard Blackwell North-South All Star Game with Hopkins receiving his team’s C-SPIRE Scholar Athlete Award.
Seven Wildcats made the 4-4A Super 22, seven were first team and four second team.
Super 22 honors went to wide receiver Niselbyion Kirk, offensive lineman Nasir Brown, placekicker Roper Stoots, defensive linemen Omauri Macon and Sammy Taylor, linebacker Jehmiah Hardin and defensive back Rankevious Johnson.
Louisville is represented on the first team by linebackers Shontez Thames and Keandre Gill, offensive linemen Sacario Goss, Jakeveion Yarbrough and Jakerrios Miller, wide receiver David Haynes and defensive back Joshua Nunn. Wide receivers Dantavius Triplett and Jaquayvius Hawthorne, running back Jaquez Thames and offensive lineman Fred Parker are on the second team.
Louisville finished 11-3 and 5-0 in region play. The Wildcats defeated Yazoo City 30-14 and Pontotoc 52-0 in the 4A playoffs before losing to Greenwood 14-6.
