The Nanih Waiya boys picked up two more wins last week, and hope to add to that streak on Friday when the Warriors and Lady Warriors host Union.
The Warriors took a solid win over Kemper Academy 66-52, then followed that up with 44-40 win over Union. The Lady Warriors beat KA 44-19 and fell to Union 43-19.
The NW boys trailed Union at the end of all of the first three quarters, but outscored the Yellowjackets 16-10 over the last eight minutes to take the four-point win.
Tyquan McCully had 10 points, two rebounds and three steals to lead the Warriors, while Rico Moore scored nine and Izaiaha Nicholson eight. Trey McMullan and Ethan Dailey had five points and seven rebounds apiece for the winners, while Tylan Glass had a team high eight boards and Shia Moore added five points.
Nanih Waiya outscored Kemper Academy 35-24 in the second half to break open a game that saw the Warriors lead by three at the half.
Nicholson had a huge game for NW, scoring 17 points, pulling down 11 rebounds, and recording two blocks. Rico Moore added 13 points and four rebounds, while McMullan scored 12.
Dailey had six boards for the winners, while Hagan Halfacre had eight points, five rebounds, and three steals. Glass had four points and five rebounds, while McCully had four points and three rebounds.
GIRLS
The Lady Warriors outscored Kemper Academy 10-2 in the first quarter and 22-7 in the fourth to take the solid win over the Lady Rams.
Sophomore Ambria Tubby scored 19 points to lead the Lady Warriors, while freshman Morgan Mills hit for 11. Skylar Eaves and I’onnya Coleman added four each for NW.
Against Union the Lady Warriors fell behind 15-4 after one quarter and 25-9 at the half and couldn’t recover.
Coleman led NW with six points, while Tubby scored four, and Taina Thompson three.
