Three individual South State Champions are among the 10 Noxapater Tigers who will take part in the MHSAA Class I State Powerlifting Championships Saturday at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
Kyler Carter, Raleigh Grace Parker, and Katleyn Barnett each finished first in the South State championship held at Ethel High School in late march.
Carter was first in the 275-pound boys class with a total eight of 1,145 pounds, while Parker was first in the girls 97-pound class, and Barnett first in the girls 132-pound class.
Other Noxapater boys who will be taking part in the State Championships are Jace McAdory, Tray Anderson and Jaylen Carter, while Kalan Brown, Abria Lewis, Morgan Hunter and Fantrasia Carter will also be taking part in the girls event.
Tatum Luke of Nanih Waiya will also be competing in the boys competition.
Each athlete competes in the bench press, deadlift, and squat with the three weight totals being combined for the final score.
