The 2018 Louisville High School football team just continues to set record.
In the fall the Wildcats earned the schools ninth MHSAA Football Championship without ever losing in the title game, then this past Wednesday 14 members of that teams signed to pay college football. That number eclipsed the 11 the 2013 state championship football team sent on to the next level.
One of those athletes, linebacker Ashanti Cistrunk, actually signed with Ole Miss in November and is already enrolled at the university, the other 13 made their decisions known before friends, family members, classmates and school supporters at a press conference in the schools auditorium.
Perhaps the most anticipated decision was the one made by all-american defensive lineman Charles Moore.
He had been committed to Mississippi State be re-opened his recruitment. When he took the stage he placed a pair of LSU caps on the table, but when it came time to make his announcement he reached under the table for an Auburn cap and placed it on his head, making is announcement official.
"To be honest I really wanted to go to LSU," Moore said after the press conference. "I felt like it was the place to be, it was more flamboyant and had the great lifestyle. But for me and what I'm trying to do in the future — this is not just a three or four year decision, this is a lifetime decision — I kind of needed to be secluded and surround myself with good people. This is the decision Yahweh placed upon my heart. I'm a very spiritual person and I just follow His well, because I want to be in his will."
Auburn, LSU and Mississippi state were the final three schools on his list.
The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Moore recorded 79 tacked and picked off a pair of passes for the Wildcats.
