Looks can be deceiving.
The Noxapater volleyball team may not have won any of the six sets they played last week, but head coach Pam Mills said the experience her Lady Tigers gained was invaluable.
“It game them a chance to see a lot the things that we talk about doing in action,” Mills said. “They can see we are not doing what we need to do.”
The Lady Tigers lost to region foe Choctaw County 25-9, 25-16, 25-12 to open the week and then fell to Grace Christian 25-13, 25-5, 25-9. While Mills would have loved to have picked up a win, she was pleased with what she saw out of her squad.
“They played the whole time,” Mills said. “They are gaining that mental toughness they need a little bit at the time.”
Nona Wilkes had three digs for the Tigers against CCHS, while Addy Webb had a point and a dig, Madison Riggs had a pint and an Ace, Mary Grace Mills recorded a save and a block, Lindsey Mills had two blocks and Jennifer Wilkes had one.
Jenna Wilkes notched two points, a spike, a block and a dig for Noxapater against Grace, while Riggs had a point, an ace, and a dig, Webb had a point, ace, and a block and Lindsey Mills had a point and a block. Nona Wilkes picked up a pair of digs for the Lady Tigers as well.
This week Noxapater was set to visit Nanih Waiya on Tuesday and host Aberdeen on Thursday in a pair of region matches.
