It was a competitive week of basketball for East Webster this past week.
The Lady Wolverines won three out of four contests while the Wolverines split a pair of games, losing two games by a combined six points.
Ingomar, one of the state’s best small-school programs, was set to vista East Webster on Tuesday while Kirk Academy will visit on Thursday night. EW will finish the week out by hosting Puckett on Friday night.

Starkville Academy 32
The Wolverines outscored the Volunteers in every period to take a 20-point win on Monday.
East led 8-3 at the end of the first and 27-17 at the half. The Wolverines continued to extend that lead, outscoring the Volunteers 13-7 in the third and 12-8 in the fourth.
Keevon Patterson and Carrin Townsend each had 12 points apiece while Nash Caldwell had eight points and Sedrick Taylor added seven points.
Starkville Academy girls 41,
East Webster 40
The Lady Volunteers jumped out to a big lead in the first period and held on to take the one-point win.
Starkville led 16-7 at the end of first and 28-19 at the half. East fought back in the second half, outscoring Starkville 11-7 in the third and 13-6 in the fourth for the final margin.
Whitney Winter led East with 12 points while Kadasha Bryant had nine points. Mariah Bell had seven points while Isha Patterson had six points.
Houston boys 58,
East Webster 55
The Hilltoppers built a big lead in the middle two periods and held on to take a three-point win on Tuesday.
East led 11-10 at the end of the first before Houston used a 19-9 advantage in the second to lead 29-20 at the half. Houston continued to extend its lead in the third, outscoring East 21-12 for a 50-32 lead. But East made it close in the fourth, outscoring Houston 23-8 for the final margin.
Keevon Patterson led the Wolverines with 18 points while Carrin Townsend had 14 points and Nash Caldwell added eight points.

Houston 47
The Lady Wolverines held off a late charge by Houston to take a five-point win over the Lady Hilltoppers.
East led 13-12 at the end of the first and 31-24 at the half. The Lady Wolverines outscored the Lady Hilltoppers 12-8 in the third to lead 43-32 after three.
Isha Patterson led East Webster with 18 points while Whitney Winter had 14 points. Kadasha Bryant and Mariah Bell each had seven points apiece.

Kirk Academy 27
The Wolverines overcame an early deficit to take a 12-point win on Friday.
Kirk led 11-4 at the end of the first and 20-17 at the half. East then bounced back Kirk 16-5 in the third and 6-2 in the fourth for the final margin.
Reid Gatline and Keevon Patterson each had 10 points apiece while Kinton Jones had seven points.

Kirk Academy 32
The Lady Wolverines broke open a close game to beat the defending MAIS Overall champions by 13.
Each team scored seven points in the first before East outscored Kirk 15-7 in the second fo ra 22-14 halftime lead. East continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Kirk 13-9 in the third and 10-9 in the fourth.
Isha Patterson led East Webster with 15 points while Whitney Winter had 13 points. Mariah Bell added eight points.
Hillcrest Christian boys 47,
East Webster 44
Hillcrest built a big first-half lead and held on to take a three-point win on Saturday at Winston Academy.
Hillcrest led 11-9 at the end of the first and outscored East 15-6 to lead 26-15 at the half. East got back in the game in the third, outscoring Hillcrest 22-10 to take a 37-36 lead. Hillcrest took the fourth 11-7 to take the win.
Nash Caldwell led East with 11 points while Keevon Patterson had eight points. Carrin Townsend had seven points and Reid Gatlin added six points.

Winston Academy 29
After falling behind by double digits, the Lady Wolverines held Winston to five points in the second half to take a six-point win.
Winston led 16-7 at the end of the first and 24-19 at the half. The Lady Wolverines then outscored the Lady Patriots 7-3 in the third and 9-2 in the fourth to take the win.
Freshman Shan Culpepper had 12 points while Whitney Winter had nine points and Isha Patterson added seven.
