East Webster split a pair of games with Heritage on Monday in their only game of the Thanksgiving break.
The Lady Wolverines took a 44-34 win over the Lady Patriots while the Wolverines fell 59-55 to the Patriots.
East Webster will return to action on Monday with a full slate of action this week as they travel to Starkville Academy on Monday and host Houston on Tuesday. They play at Kirk Academy on Thursday and will play at Winston Academy in the Red Hills Showdown as the girls play Winston at 10 a.m. and the boys play Hillcrest Christian at 11:30 a.m.

The Lady Wolverines held Heritage without a field goal in the second half on Monday to take a 10-point win over the Lady Patriots.
Each team scored 12 points apiece in the first period and Heritage outscored East Webster 12-10 in the second to lead 24-22 at the half. But the Lady Wolverines outscored the Lady Patriots 11-5 in each the third and fourth periods to take the win.
“We didn’t shoot it particularly well,” EWHS head coach Jon Ginn said. “In the second half, we held them to zero field goals. All of their points were from the free-throw line. If we had been able to hit some goals, we would have been able to stretch it out a little bit.”
Isha Patterson led the Lady Wolverines with 16 points while Whitney Winter had 12 points. Kadasha Bryant and Lauren Graves each had six points apiece.

The Wolverines had the defending Class AAA MAIS champions on the ropes but late foul trouble allowed the Patriots to come back and take the win.
East Webster jumped out to a 14-2 lead at the end of the first period and led 31-23 at the end of the first half.
“We should have won that one,” Ginn said. “We were up 12 after one and eight at the half. We were actually up 12 early in the third and had to pull one of my starters out and sit him and that made a huge difference. I was proud of the effort, it just didn’t translate into a win. But sometimes a good loss can be better than a win at the right time.”
Heritage started to mount a comeback in the second half as they outscored East Webster 19-12 in the third as the Wolverines led 43-32 going into the fourth.
In a back-and-forth final period, freshman Blake Slay hit a three-pointer for East Webster to tie the game at 51-51 with 1:30 left to play.
“After we tied it, we wound up fouling them and they hit their free throws and we didn’t,” Ginn said. “That was really the difference. They were 8-of-10 from the line in the fourth and we were 1-of-5. If we hit some of those free throws at crucial times, we don’t have to foul them. But I’m not making excuses, we just didn’t get it done. You can’t miss free throws like that down the stretch.”
Carrin Townsend led East Webster with 15 points while Reid Gatlin had 10 points. Kinton Jones had nine points and Nash Caldwell had seven points.
