The Lady Tigers of Noxapater were hoping to continue to improve their volleyball play this week fresh off a pair of wins to open the season.
Noxapater took a 3-1 win over Louisville to open the season, then swept Kosciusko in three sets to improve to 2-0. This week the Lady Tigers were set to visit Louisville on Tuesday before hosting the Lady Patriots of Winston Academy on Thursday night.
“I feel like we did pretty well,” said Noxapater head coach Pam Mills. “We still see areas where we have to improve. That is going to be a week-by-week process.
“Serving in one set killed us,” Mills said. “You have to be able to serve and to pass the ball.”
In the match against Louisville the Lady Tigers won the first two sets 25-18 and 25-19, before dropping the third set 25-22. Noxapater then closed out the match with a 25-19 win in set four.
In the first set Lindsey Mills had a save, while Nona Wilkes, Madison Riggs, and Mills all had digs. The second set saw Lindsey Mills, Mary Grace Mills, Addy Webb, Nona Wilkes and Riggs all scoring points, while Lindsey Mills, Webb and Nona Wilkes all had service aces.
Mary Grace Mills, Jenna Wilkes, Nona Wilkes and Riggs all scored points, Mary Grace Mills had an ace and Nona Wilkes a kill. Mary Grace Mills and Jenna Wilkes had saves, while Webb and Jenna Wilkes had digs. The fourth set saw Mary Grace Mills, Jenna Wilkes and Mia Smith all scoring points and Smith serving an ace. Digs were recored by Lindsey Mills, Nona Wilkes and Webb.
The second match of the week saw the Lady Tigers defeat Kosciusko 25-21, 25-23, and 25-16.
Webb, Jenna Wilkes and Nona Wilkes all scored in set one, with Nona and Jenna Wilkes each recording a save and Smith picking up a dig. Lindsey Mills and Jenna Wilkes scored points in set two with Webb picking up a save.
Set three had Webb, Lindsey Mills and Riggs all scoring points, with Riggs and Lindsey Mills each serving aces. Mary Grace Mills contributed a save.
