French Camp softball will begin the 1A playoffs with a doubleheader at Stringer Friday. If a decisive game in the best of three series is needed, it will be at French Saturday.
French Camp finished third in Region 5-1A and Stringer second in 7-1A. The winner will play the 8-1A champion, Salem or Resurrection, in the second round.
“We need to play error free ball,” French Camp coach Tod Chesser said of the matchup with Stringer. “I was looking at their MaxPreps page. They're a young team, but they're a quality team. They're going to put the ball in play They're going to pitch well. We will have to avoid mistakes.”
Stringer is averaging nearly nine runs per game with a team batting average of .330.
In games last week, French Camp lost to Ethel 12-0 and defeated West Lowndes 13-2. The Lady Panthers concluded the regular season with games Monday and Tuesday against West Lowndes and Nanih Waiya.
