Former Winston Academy standout Isaac Keen and his East Central Community College teammates will be headed to Tucson, Ariz. next week to take part in the 2019 National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Men's Tennis Championship.
Keen has been a regular playing singles for the Warriors this year, as well as teaming up with fellow-sophomore Jake Wofford of East Webster to play doubles.
East Central, which is ranked No. 22 in the country, is one of 26 teams taking part in the event. The Warriors are 10-9 going into the Nationals, while will be contests at the Reffkin Tennis Center in Tucson on May 13-17.
“This is a tremendous honor for East Central Community College’s tennis programs, and tremendous recognition of the improvement our men’s team has made over the past 12 months,” said ECCC head tennis coach Jay Pacelli in a school press release. “We enthusiastically accepted the invitation. It will be a fitting reward for our graduating sophomores, and valuable experience for our freshmen as they prepare to lead the team next season.”
