East Webster defeated French Camp 5-2 in the opening round of the MHSAA tennis playoffs for 1A and 2A schools.
French Camp’s two points came in No.1 girls doubles by Grace Ann Wade and Raney Peacock and mixed doubles by Cameron Smith and Ruthie Storment.
“We were a little off today,” said coach Larry Mincher.
French Camp won Region 3 and East Webster, a 2A school, was runnerup in region 4
The loss ends the team season for French Camp, but both singles players and three doubles teams will participate in the individual competition April 29-30 in Oxford.
Josh Miller will compete in boys singles, Ella Copenhaven in girls singles, Bradley McGlothin and Jason May in boys doubles, Wade and Peacock in girls doubles and Smith and Storment in mixed doubles.
