The East Webster tennis team opened the season with a 5-2 win over Neshoba Central on Thursday.
On the singles side, Meri Grace Gregg took a dominating 6-1, 6-1 win while Mason Brand fell 6-0, 6-0 in boys singles.
Neshoba got its other point at mixed doubles as Kaleb Perish and Jenna Flake lost a three-setter, falling 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
East Webster dominated the rest of the way, winning all four doubles points. At No. 1 boys doubles, Samuel Turner and Will Burton took a 6-3, 6-2 win while Victory Mitchell and Cooper Reed won 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 2 doubles spot.
At No. 1 girls doubles, Melony Berryhill and Sydney Ferguson won 6-3, 6-2 while Madison Gregg and Lauren Graves won 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 doubles spot.
East Webster will return to action Monday as they travel to Oak Hill Academy and will host the Mississippi School for Math and Science on Tuesday before taking off for spring break. After spring break, East will travel to Tupelo Christian on March 18 and to Neshoba Central on March 21.
