After a 1-3 start, the East Webster Lady Wolverines have won four straight games, including three last week.
The Lady Wolverines beat Ingomar 58-52 on Tuesday and then beat Philadelphia 52-40 on Thursday and Mantachie 66-65 on Friday.
The Wolverines lost all three games last week and fell to 1-8 on the season, falling 78-35 to Ingomar, 61-40 to Philadelphia and 58-49 to Mantachie.
East Webster was scheduled to host Vardaman on Tuesday and will travel to rival Eupora on Thursday.
East Webster girls 66, Mantachie 65
The Lady Wolverines overcame a seven-point deficit in the fourth period and took a one-point win over Lady Mustangs on Friday.
East Webster led 19-17 at the end of the first but trailed 41-40 at the half. Mantachie outscored East 14-10 in the third to lead 55-50 going into the fourth. The Lady Mustangs led by seven when Meri Grace Gregg hit three straight 3-pointers to give the Lady Wolverines the lead. East ended up outscoring Mantachie 16-10 in the fourth for the final margin.
“It was a really entertaining game for the fans,” coach Jon Ginn said. “”There were probably eight or nine lead changes in the first half. Both teams were playing well and both teams had trouble stopping the other team from scoring. We got down by as many as seven and Meri Grace hit three 3-points in a row to put us up by two. Shan Culpepper hit some big free throws down the stretch and we got some big stops on defense to hold them off.”
Lauren Graves led East Webster with 17 points while Gregg had 14 points. Whitney Winter and Shameriah Culpepper each hadn’t nine points while Shan Culpepper added eight points.
Mantachie boys 58, East Webster 49
The Wolverines fell behind early and dropped a nine-point decision for their third loss of the week on Friday.
Mantachie led 11-8 at the end of the first and then outscored East Webster 15-4 in the second to lead 26-12 at the half. Mantachie outscored East 12-11 in the third before East took the fourth period 24-20.
Sedrick Taylor led East Webster with 11 points while Reed Gatlin and Kainan Reed each had nine points. Blake Slay added seven points.
East Webster girls 52, Philadelphia 40
The Lady Wolverines used a big first period to take a 10-point win over the Lady Tornadoes on Thursday.
East Webster led 21-5 at the end of the first. Philadelphia outscored East 15-14 in the second to cut the lead to 35-20. East Webster outscored Philly 9-7 in the third and the Lady Tornadoes outscored the Lady Wolverines 13-8 in the fourth for the final margin.
Shan Culpepper led East Webster with 17 points while Shameriah Culpepper had 13 points. Whitney Winter and Lauren Graves each had nine points apiece.
Philadelphia boys 61, East Webster 40
The Tornadoes outscored the Wolverines in every period to take a 21-point win on Thursday.
Philly led 13-7 at the end of the first and 31-20 at the half. The Tornadoes continued to extend the lead in the second half as they outscored East Webster 14-9 in the third and 16-11 in the fourth.
Blake Slay and Nash Caldwell each had nine points apiece while Reid Gatlin had eight points.
East Webster girls 58, Ingomar 52
The Lady Wolverines pulled away in the middle two periods and held on to take a six-point win over the Lady Falcons.
Ingomar led 10-8 at the end of the first before East Webster outscored the Falcons 15-11 in the second and third periods to lead 38-32 going to the fourth where each team scored 20 points.
Lauren Graves had a big game with 21 pants while Shan Culpepper had 19 points. Whitney Winter had eight points and Meri Grace Gregg added seven points.
Ingomar boys 78, East Webster 35
The Falcons used a steady supply of offense to take a 43-point win over the Wolverines on Tuesday.
Ingomar led 23-8 at the end of the first and 42-16 at the half. The Falcons continued to extend the lead in the second half, outscoring the Wolverines 24-20 in the third and 12-9 in the fourth.
Nash Caldwell led East with 11 points while Reid Gatlin had nine points.
