The Eupora Eagles picked up their first wins of the season last week with a trio of blowout victories.
After a tight 8-7 loss to French Camp on Tuesday, the Eagles hammered Vardaman 15-1 on Thursday. The Eagles then turned around and swept a division 2-2A doubleheader from Leflore County, winning 15-0 and 14-0.
Eupora, now 3-3, was scheduled to play three games to start this week, but poor weather changed those plans.
French Camp 8, Eupora 7
The Eagles built a 4-0 lead but couldn’t hold on as they lost a one-run decision to French Camp on Tuesday.
Eupora scored three in the first and fifth innings and one in the second. French Camp scored one in the fourth, four in the fifth and three in the sixth to take the win.
Eupora had six hits in the contest. Cade Adkins singled, walked twice and drove in two runs while Reed Hale singled and drove in two runs. Landon Davis walked twice and scored two runs while Carter May doubled and scored two runs.
Chris Robinson pitched the first four innings and gave up one unearned run on one hit and two walks. Adkins pitched an inning and gave up four runs on one hit and four walks. Tanner Fletcher pitched the final inning and gave up three runs on two hits while striking out two.
Eupora 15, Vardaman 1
The Eagles broke open a tight game with 10 run in the sixth inning to take a run-rule victory over the Rams on Thursday.
Eupora scored three in the second and two in the third and led 5-1 before scoring 10 in the sixth.
Eupora had seven hits and took advantage of 12 walks. Carter May was 2-for- with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. Reed Hale was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs while Ty Murphy was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Tanner Fletcher walked twice and scored three runs while Landon Davis also scored two runs. Parker Knight walked three times while Jacob Collum also drew two walks.
Carter May pitched five innings and gave up one run on four hits and three walks while striking out nine to pick up the win. Murphy pitched a scoreless sixth inning and struck out two.
Eupora 15, Leflore County 0
The Eagles needed just 2 1/2 innings to beat Leflore County in the first game of the doubleheader on Friday.
Eupora scored two in the first and 13 in the second on seven hits and seven walks.
Carter May was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and three RBIs while Parker Knight was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Drew Tabb had a single and drove in three runs while Ty Murphy scored three runs. Tanner Fletcher walked twice and scored two runs while Cade Adkins also scored twice. Jacob Collum also had two RBIs.
Reed Hale got the start and pitched three innings, giving up one hit and striking out seven to pick up the win.
Eupora 14, Leflore County 0
Two Eagles combined on a no-hitter as they swept a doubleheader from Leflore County.
Eupora scored five in the first, seven in the second and two in the third on eight hits, five errors and six walks.
Parker Knight was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and two runs scored. Reed Hale had a double and drove in three runs. Ty Murphy doubled and scored two runs while Landon Davis walked twice and scored two runs. Jacob Collum and Avery Tollison each singled and drove in two runs for the Eagles. Carter May had three stolen bases while Davis had two.
Cade Adkins pitched 1 2/3 innings and struck out five and walked two while Tanner Fletcher pitched 2 1/3 innings and struck out four and walked just one.
