The Eupora and East Webster softball teams both picked up much-needed wins on the softball diamond this past week while dropping games to some of the state’s better teams.
Eupora took a 13-3 win over Calhoun City but lost twice to Amory, 7-0 and 7-4.
East Webster beat Winona 11-0 but lost 11-3 to unbeaten Hamilton.
EUPORA
The Lady Eagles lost two of three games last week as they were dropped two games to Amory and took a run-rule win over Calhoun City.
In the 7-0 loss to Amory on Thursday, the Lady Eagles had just six hits in the contest. Patience Bingham and Meleah Pogue had doubles while Haylee McCrory, Rylee Brooke Crowell, Mackenzi Reed-Wood and Aubree Mason also had singles.
In a 7-4 home loss to Amory on Monday, the Lady Eagles had nine hits. Lading the way was Marleigh Abbott, who had a three-run home run to spark the Lady Eagles. Haley Farley was 2-for-3 with a double while Meleah Pogue singled, scored and drove in a run. Haylee McCrory singled and scored while Rylee Brooke Crowell was 2-for-3 on the night with a double.
In a 13-3 win over Calhoun City, the Lady Eagles banged out 13 hits to take the win. Patience Bingham was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles while Haylee McCrory was 2-for-3 with a double. Maleah Pogue was 2-for-4 with a pair of singles while Haley Farley also had two singles. Rylee Brooke Crowell was 2-for-3 with a double. Alley Bingham and Addison Mason also had singles.
Eupora was scheduled to play at Neshoba on Monday and then host East Webster on Thursday in their only action this week.
EAST WEBSTER
The Lady Wolverines split a pair of games on the softball diamond this week. The Lady Wolverines lost 11-3 to undefeated Hamilton and then beat Winona 11-0.
In an 11-3 loss to Hamilton, the Lady Wolverines had 11 hits in the contest but left nine runners on bases on the eight-run loss. Abby Williams was 3-for-4 with a double and one run scored while Katelee Box was 2-for-4 and scored a run. Coy Jennings was 2-for-3 while Marlie Brewer and Reagan Plunkett also had singled. Hallie Beth Reed singled and scored while Emma Jennings and Whitney Winter each had RBIs.
In an 11-0 win over Winona, the Lady Wolverines had 15 hits and held the Lady Tigers to four. Peyton Flora was 2-for-2 and scored a run while Emma McKee was 2-for-2 and drove in two runs. Hallie Beth Reed. was also 2-for-2 along with Marlie Brewer. Katelee Box was also 2-for-2 on the day.
